Dr. John KillingerIn my last post I mentioned that while I feel that the "fruits" of my faith are growing, I consistently have difficulty with the quality and regularity of my devotional time.  After writing this post, I went to read the excellent "Day by Day with Jesus" devotional by Dr. John Killinger for January 24.  The scripture for this devotional is Matthew 7:13-23.  Verse 16-18 in the NRSV reads reads:
You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Maybe God is trying to tell me to relax a bit and have confidence that I am not a "bad tree" because a "bad tree cannot bear bad fruit."
